I am one of the 12 finalists in this year's 2009 ABC's Children's Picture Book Competiton. I am partnered with Michelle Munger who is the illustrator for my story in this competition. The winning team will be chosen by internet voting and will receive a publishing contract. Voting period occurred September 20, 2009 through October 4, 2009. The winning team is expected to be announced by late October.
In Hello My Friends, MailLei learns through friends from various countries the different words to greet when they meet, providing MaiLei with a true insight to the diversity around the world.

About the Contest:
- competition's objective is to provide an undiscovered author a
chance to get published
- 12 finalists were chosen from the entries submitted
- each finalist was paired with an illustrator
- both the story & artwork will be posted on their website for a two-
week internet voting period
- the winning team will be chosen by internet voting and will receive
a royalty-based publishing contract with the ABC's Press, an imprint
of Bluebonnets, Boots & Books, a Houston, Texas based publisher
